Whirlwind...

It seems as though that is what my life is right now..a whirlwind. I will be so glad when may arrives & hopefully my life will slow down a little. I have so much going on with school it's crazy. Studying, tests, clinicals(which my last 1 was yesterday), precepting, job hunting...the list is ongoing. Hopefully, come may after I take the state boards, I will be able to start working & not have school to worry about. (Well at least for a semester) I plan on starting on my bachelors soon. Don't get me wrong, I love my school, but there are so many things that go along with it that are just so stressful. I'm ready to be finished & start working. haha. Some people say "O you will miss school"...no, this chick won't. Its definitely been the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life. But, it will be the most rewarding career ever & I'm looking forward to helping people & touching peoples lives. Thats what gets me through the stress of school is the outcome that I'm going to have. I'm actually going to be able to make a difference in peoples lives & to me that is worth the struggle & stress of school. This semester has already started so fast & I'm practically half way through. I'm so excited, but scared to death at the same time. Today I found out where I would be precepting at & who my preceptor is going to be. I'm really excited because I think it will be a great learning experience. I still have a couple of weeks however, before precepting actually begins. Like I said earlier, yesterday was my last day of clinicals. It felt so awesome last night on the way home from the hospital knowing that I was through with my clinicals for the program. It's been a long time coming, but I can finally smell freedom!! =) I know Jason will be just as happy as me when I'm finished with school! I know I drive him CRAZY because I drive my own self crazy! I passed my med test on monday with a 90. I was so glad to finally have that behind me. And then on tuesday I had a unit test. I passed the test, but I didn't get the grade that I wanted. I studied my butt off, but I guess it wasn't enough. I still have a good average & I plan on keeping it that way so I can go into the final with the highest possible grade because the exams are always KILLER! I can't believe I have rambled on & on about school...you can tell what I spend most of my time doing...Nursing School! I speak, dream, study,  pray nursing school...& would probably eat it if I could.  Praying may 12th will hurry up!!!!! xoxoxox-Kat

Suggestions please!!

So, I've been thinking today & I think I may paint my shutters & the front door this summer. If you look at the picture of my house (I have one in the post about the snow) you will see that I have a dark brown house with brown shutters. There is only 1 picture in that post & you can't really tell that much about my house. As soon as I get a chance to take some pictures of the house, I will post them because I would really like to hear some input about some different colors. Please comment with your suggestions. Just let me know what you think would look good since my house has such dark brown siding. Right now I'm pondering the thought of black shutters with an apple red door. But, thats just a thought. Thanks a bunch you guys! My second to LAST clinical of nursing school is tomorrow & I couldn't be more excited! I can't wait till MAY 12th!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Valentine's

Yesterday was Valentine's Day, however, it was basically just another day at our house. Jason & I had decided that this year we were not going to do anything special for Valentine's. We didn't see the need in spending the money in candy & all the typical Valentine gifts. However, on sunday, I had been working on my ER/ICU presentation ALL day long & was pretty stressed out with school. He was cooking dinner & asked me if I would like my Valentine's gift a day early. (yes, even when we had decided not to do gifts) Of course I said yes, gifts always make me feel better! haha. He got me some pink fleece pajamagrams! They are so comfy & super cute! He even had my name monogrammed on them. However, I felt like crap because I hadn't gotten him a thing except a card! I thought that was so sweet of him to do that. I'm really lucky to have a great husband. He makes me very very happy =) xoxoxo-Katherine

Loving the weather..

The weather today was absolutely gorgeous. It was so nice out. The temperature was just perfect. I actually sat out on the front porch when I got home from school & studied a little bit. It felt so nice to do that since it's been so long since the last time the weather was nice enough to do it. This warmer weather makes me so excited, because it means that; 1) it's almost graduation time...2) it's almost time to take the NCLEX, which means that I'm one step closer to becoming an RN...3) it's almost racing season, which is definitely my most favorite time of the year!!! This warmer weather has definitely put some pep in my step! =) Last week I actually began the first application process for the NCLEX. It was such an awesome feeling to be able to go to the NC Board of Nursing website & apply. It has definitely been a long time coming. I have worked so hard for so long & I can FINALLY see that light at the end of the tunnel & I'm reaching for it & running towards it as fast as I possibly can!!!!! I hope the weather continues to be as perfect as it was today, because days like today make this time of year so perfect & enjoyable. I have so much to look forward to within the next couple of months & so much to celebrate!! xoxoxo-Kat

My new obsession!

IKEA...Never been to the store, but can't wait to visit! I've found some amazing things on their website & can't wait to actually go shopping there! They have the greatest things for amazing prices! Here are some of the neat things that I've found on their website...

 I love this light. I'm really thinking about taking the fan down in our spare bedroom & putting up this light. I think it is so cool looking & completely different.

 I love any kind of vases, but these are pretty neat!

I thought this would be neat to hang on the wall. You could put magazines or store practically anything in here. Ikea actually says that it could be used to store hats, scarves or other small items.

With all of this being said, I can't wait to visit IKEA!!! I'm so busy with school right now, but just as soon as I get a chance, I will be making a visit to Charlotte Ikea. xoxoxoxo-Kat

Work in Progress...

I have been in the process of painting some furniture of mine for our guest bedroom for quite some time now. I've actually been a big slacker & I really need to get it finished. It hasn't been the most fun project, but I'm ready to get it finished! The furniture was an off white/creme color & I'm painting it white. I really love the furniture. I had it in my bedroom when I was younger. It came out of an old house & everything in the house was auctioned off. My parents bought it a long time ago. I wish I would have taken a before picture of the furniture before I started painting it! That way I could have before & after pictures! It should only take me 1 more day to get it finished. The dresser & mirror needs 1 more coat of paint & it will all be finished. The bedroom I'm putting it in is a light green room with white trim. I've been looking & looking everywhere for a comforter that I really liked & I think I finally found one today. I'm now looking for decrating ideas. Below are some pictures and inspirations that I'm using for the room. I'm so excited because I think this room is going to look pretty awesome by the time I get it finished! I'll make sure to post before & after pictures! Not sure exactly when the project will be completely finished because like I said, it's a work in progress..& has been for a while now! xoxoxoxoxo-Kat
